CKQ Super Sunday takes place on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at Kings & Queens Chess Academy in Piscataway, New Jersey. The tournament features three rounds of longer time-control chess at G/75 +15, with three rating-based sections ranging from Under 1500 to Championship level.
The revised Super Sunday format combines US Chess-rated competition with FIDE-rated play in the two higher sections. The Under 1500 section is US Chess rated only, while Intermediate and Championship are both US Chess and FIDE rated. Players can qualify for a section through either their US Chess or FIDE rating when applicable.
A $1,000 guaranteed prize fund is distributed across the three sections. The event is open to players of all ages, but a current US Chess membership is mandatory. Players entering either FIDE-rated section must also have a valid FIDE ID.
♟️ Event Details
The tournament uses a three-round Swiss format, with all sections playing the same classical-style time control. The two higher sections are submitted for FIDE rating in addition to US Chess rating.

🧩 Sections / Groups
The revised Super Sunday structure uses three sections with overlapping eligibility ranges. Therefore, some players may qualify for more than one section and may choose the higher eligible division.
| Section | Eligibility | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| Under 1500 | USCF 1000–1499 | US Chess only |
| Intermediate | USCF 1450–2099 or FIDE 1500–1999 | US Chess + FIDE |
| Championship | USCF 2050+ or FIDE 1950–2399 | US Chess + FIDE |
Players may establish eligibility using either their US Chess or FIDE rating where the section permits it.
For example, a player who qualifies for both Under 1500 and Intermediate may choose Intermediate. Likewise, a player eligible for both Intermediate and Championship may choose Championship.
Players rated below 1000 USCF are encouraged by the organizer to participate in the academy’s weekend Rapid tournaments instead.
For FIDE purposes, the tournament has a maximum FIDE rating of 2399. There is no separate minimum FIDE rating for the event beyond the section-eligibility requirements.
