The Maratona Blitz FIDE 5’+3” Villa Cortese 2026 takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026 in the council chamber of Villa Cortese Town Hall near Milan, Italy. A.S.D. Scacchi Famiglia Legnanese organizes the event in collaboration with the Comune di Villa Cortese.

The marathon consists of 20 FIDE-rated blitz rounds at 5 minutes plus 3 seconds per move. Ten rounds are played in the morning, followed by a lunch break and another ten rounds in the afternoon, with the entire field competing in one open Swiss tournament.

The official notice contains a small prize inconsistency: it states a €600 prize fund, but the individually listed cash awards add to €610. Because the same current official regulation contains both figures, the separate USD prize field is intentionally left blank instead of choosing one total.

The tournament is an integral open with no Elo limit. Ten rounds are played before lunch and ten afterward. The published tie-break order is Direct Encounter, Buchholz, Buchholz Cut 1, then ARO. For ARO purposes, the Italian Elo is treated as equivalent to FIDE Elo.

The event is submitted for FIDE Blitz rating under the Italian federation’s technical regulations.

Membership & FIDE ID

Italian players and foreign players resident in Italy need the appropriate FSI Agonistica, Ordinaria, or Junior membership under the published rules. Players who are not yet registered can regularize the membership at the tournament by paying the applicable amount. Foreign non-resident players must hold a FIN / FIDE ID issued by their federation.

Electronic Devices

Electronic devices are prohibited in the competition area and must remain switched off and away from the player’s body.

By completing registration, players accept publication of normal tournament data such as name, category, Elo, results, games, and tournament photographs on organizer and Vesus channels.
