Thanksgiving Open 2026, BC Closed & BC Women’s Championship
The Thanksgiving Open 2026, BC Closed & BC Women’s Championship takes place from October 9–12, 2026, at Comfort Inn & Suites in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Fraser Valley Chess Academy hosts the three classical tournaments during the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend.
The festival combines the Thanksgiving Open, a seven-round Swiss tournament; the prestigious BC Closed Championship, an eight-player invitational round robin; and the BC Women’s Championship, a six-round Swiss tournament. All three events carry FIDE and CFC classical ratings and use a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move from move one.
Moreover, the tournaments run concurrently at the same venue. Therefore, each player may participate in only one of the three competitions.
