3rd Annual Thanksgiving Open 2026

46 46 people viewed this event.

The 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Open 2026 takes place from November 13–15, 2026 at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott in Dulles, Virginia. Atlantic Chess Association organizes four rating sections with a published $6,550 prize fund based on 100 full-paid entries.

Premier and Under 2000 are FIDE-rated sections, while Under 1600 and Under 1200 broaden the field for club and developing players. The first three main sections use G/90 + 30-second increment; Under 1200 uses a faster G/60;d5 format.

The event offers a strong hotel rate near Dulles Airport, titled-player concessions, re-entry, mixed doubles and detailed play-up rules. Because the $6,550 fund is entry-dependent, it is not entered as a fixed guaranteed USD prize amount.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

Premier / U2000 / U1600

These sections use G/90 + 30 seconds per move for the five-round weekend. The published default time is 60 minutes.

Under 1200

The U1200 section uses G/60;d5 and a compact Saturday/Sunday schedule.

Byes, Withdrawal & Electronics

The registration rules allow half-point byes under the organizer’s published deadline. Withdrawals must be reported so players are not paired after leaving the event. Electronic notation devices are prohibited and the organizer publishes strict electronic-device rules for the playing hall.

🏆 Prize Fund

The event advertises $6,550 based on 100 full-paid entries, with Under 1200 entries counted at a reduced weighting for prize-fund purposes. Because the headline figure depends on turnout, the fixed USD metadata field remains blank.

Mixed Doubles

A $250 mixed-doubles prize is also advertised under the organizer’s team-rating rules. Players wishing to form a team should register it before the stated deadline rather than assuming automatic pairing.

The live registration page contains the final section-by-section dollar amounts, rating-class awards and unrated restrictions. Players should check it after any organizer update.
