⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The main schedule gives each player 80 minutes for the first 40 moves. After that, each player receives 30 minutes for the rest of the game. A 30-second delay applies throughout the game.

The 2-day schedule uses G/60 with a 10-second delay for rounds 1 and 2. After those games, players merge into the regular schedule.

Pairings follow the Swiss system across 5 rounds. The Master, Expert, and Class A sections carry FIDE rating status, while US Chess rules apply across the tournament.

The tournament has a guaranteed prize fund of $17,000. The prize list includes section prizes, Master U2300 prizes, a clear-win or tie-break bonus, and Mixed Doubles bonus prizes.

Mixed Doubles teams consist of one male and one female player. The team average must stay under 2200. Teammates may enter different sections and schedules.

👥 Sections / Groups

Master Section

The Master section welcomes players rated 2100 and above. It carries FIDE rating status and also includes extra prizes for the top USCF U2300 players.

Expert Section

The Expert section covers players rated 1900–2199. It also carries FIDE rating status and offers its own four-place prize list.

Class A Section

The Class A section covers players rated 1700–1999 and unrated players. It also carries FIDE rating status and follows the same 5-round format.

Class Sections B to E

Class B covers players rated 1500–1799 and unrated players. Meanwhile, Class C covers players rated 1300–1599 and unrated players.

Class D covers players under 1400 and unrated players. Finally, Class E covers players under 1200 and unrated players.

Play-Up and Unrated Rules

Expanded class boundaries allow players rated in the top third of a section to play in the next higher section. Under 1200 players may enter Class E or play up in Class D. In addition, unrated players may enter Class A through Class E, with prize limits by section.
