Players on the two-day schedule merge with the three-day field for Round 3 at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Optional Byes
Players may request up to two half-point byes before Round 1.
However, the organizer awards zero points for any bye requested after the tournament begins. Therefore, players should submit all planned half-point bye requests during registration.
Ratings Used
The organizer primarily uses the October 2026 US Chess Regular Supplement for pairings, section eligibility, and prizes.
However, the organizer may also recognize:
- A player’s current live rating when applying the 100-point play-up rule
- A peak rating achieved from September 1 through October 2
- An assigned rating for foreign players without sufficient US Chess history
For foreign players rated 2000 or higher by FIDE, the organizer may calculate an assigned US Chess rating as:
1.02 × FIDE rating + 20
For foreign players rated below 2000, the organizer normally uses the FIDE rating at par. However, the chief tournament director may consider another recognized national rating system.
🏆 Prize Fund
The festival guarantees $6,000 in prizes. The main classical tournament awards $5,500, while the Saturday evening blitz awards another $500.

♟️ Sections / Groups
The classical tournament uses three rating sections. The organizer applies a 100-point rule when players request permission to play in a higher section.
| Section | Normal Eligibility | Play-Up Eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| 🏆 Championship | Rated 2000 and above | Players rated 1900 or higher may play up |
| ♟️ Under 2000 | Rated below 2000 | Players rated 1500 or higher may play up from Under 1600 |
| ♟️ Under 1600 | Rated 1000–1599 | Minimum tournament rating remains 1000 |
Players who register for an ineligible section may be moved to the correct group.
Moreover, the organizer may recognize a player’s peak rating since September 1 when determining play-up eligibility. However, the rating used for pairings and prizes may differ from that peak rating.
All participants must hold an active US Chess membership.
