Circolo Scacchi Città di Como is a chess association based in Como, Lombardy, Italy. The Federazione Scacchistica Italiana registers the organization as A.D. Scacchi “Città di Como”, with FSI affiliation number 9114. In addition, Circolo Scacchi Città di Como contributes to chess events elsewhere in the province. Its activities connect the club with regional FSI structures, schools, educational organizations, and other chess associations across the Como area.

🎓 Junior Chess, School Chess and Education

Chess education represents an important part of the club’s activity. Circolo Scacchi Città di Como works with young players through courses at its headquarters and through programs involving local schools.

The association has also taken responsibility for official Trofeo Scacchi Scuola activity. In 2026, it organized the provincial Como phase for primary schools in Albese con Cassano. The event formed part of the national school-chess structure supported by FSI and the regional chess committee.

Circolo Scacchi Città di Como organizes the 3° Torneo Como from November 13–15, 2026 at the Università Terza Età, Via Palestro 17, Como.

The competition continues the club’s developing Torneo Como series after the second edition in October 2025. For 2026, the organizers again use a compact weekend format with five Swiss rounds.

Players receive 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move, and results count for FIDE Standard rating. The tournament operates as one open section rather than several separate rating groups.

The organizers publish €500 in cash prizes, together with cups and an Under-18 award. Moreover, the standard entry contribution is €40, with a reduced rate for younger players.

The Italian Chess Federation explicitly lists C.S. Città di Como as organizer of the event. Registration and tournament communication run through the club, while its official website provides the current tournament information.

The series therefore complements the club’s internal calendar with a FIDE-rated weekend event open to the wider chess community. At the same time, its location at the Università Terza Età reflects the association’s broader relationship with chess education in Como.

🤝 Chess in the Como Community

For example, the club took part in FAIRPLAY DAY – Sport in Teatro at the Teatro Sociale di Como during the 2025–2026 season.
