The entry fee is $55 through November 1 and $65 thereafter / on site. Eligible University of Vermont students and staff receive free entry under the event announcement. Current US Chess membership is required.
There is no re-entry. Players who need a bye, late arrival or withdrawal should communicate directly with the organizer so that the next pairing is not affected.

Chittenden County Chess Club is an active over-the-board chess club serving South Burlington, Burlington, and the wider Chittenden County area of Vermont. The club provides regular tournament-style chess, US Chess-rated games, casual blitz, and opportunities for players of different ages and strengths to compete throughout the year.
The club has maintained an established presence in Vermont chess for many years. By 2014, Chittenden County Chess Club was already organizing public chess activity in Burlington, including a simultaneous exhibition jointly hosted with the Champlain College Chess Club. Its structured club program was also well established by 2017, when the association published its Thursday Knights newsletter, maintained a board and treasurer, and ran regular club Swiss tournaments.
Walter M. Chesnut is the club’s principal current public contact and tournament organizer. The club publishes his direct phone number and email, while US Chess names him as organizer of the 2026 McGrath Memorial Vermont State Championship. Chesnut then became the published organizer of the 2023 Vermont Open, which US Chess classified as both a Heritage Event and State Championship Event. He continued in the same organizer role for the 2024 edition.
