Late Arrival
Players arriving more than 30 minutes late without prior notice may risk a forfeit or opponent reassignment.
Regardless of whether notice has been provided, a player who has not reached the playing hall within 60 minutes after the round begins forfeits the game.
If a player’s scheduled opponent does not appear, tournament staff may offer another opponent at an appropriately reduced time control when a suitable unpaired player is available.

before registering.
🧩 Sections / Groups
The tournament has three sections.

| Championship | FIDE + US Chess rated |
| U1800 | FIDE + US Chess rated |
| U1400 | US Chess rated only |
The U1400 section is specifically advertised as US Chess rated only and should not be described as FIDE rated.
Playing Up
Texas Chess Center allows eligible players to request a higher section.
A player qualifies to play up when either the player’s:
- US Chess monthly rating;
- live rating; or
- provisional rating
is within 150 points of the floor of the next section.
Furthermore, if the player’s live or provisional rating already meets or exceeds the higher section’s floor, the player may move up without paying the play-up fee.
Players without a US Chess rating may ask the organizer to consider a FIDE rating or a substantiated online rating when determining eligibility.
The organizer retains responsibility for final section placement.

🚆 How to Get There
Carrollton is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area and can be reached conveniently from both major Dallas airports.
✈️ Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is approximately 15.7 miles from the tournament hotel.
For most international travelers, DFW will be the most practical airport because of its extensive domestic and international flight network.
The Courtyard does not provide a complimentary airport shuttle.
Taxi, rideshare, rental car, or pre-arranged airport transportation can therefore be used for the final transfer to Carrollton.
✈️ Dallas Love Field
Dallas Love Field (DAL) is approximately 17.2 miles from the hotel.
Love Field may be convenient for players traveling on domestic routes, particularly flights operated through the Dallas market.
The tournament hotel does not provide a complimentary shuttle from Love Field either.
🚆 DART / Public Transport
Trinity Mills DART Station is the principal rail and transit connection in the Carrollton area.
Players arriving by public transport should expect to use a rideshare, taxi, or connecting local service for the final journey between the station and the hotel.
Because Round 1 of the three-day schedule starts at 7:00 PM on Friday, travelers arriving the same day should leave sufficient time for airport traffic and the final transfer to Carrollton.
🚗 By Car
For navigation, use:
Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Carrollton and Carrollton Conference Center
1201 Raiford Road
Carrollton, TX 75007
Complimentary parking makes driving particularly practical for participants from the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
