⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The four main classical sections all use a 9-round classical format. Each player receives 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 15 minutes to finish, plus a 30-second increment from move one. As a result, the festival gives players a full long-play structure instead of a short weekend format.

The side events add more variety. The Adolf Anderssen Memorial and the Polish Open Chess960 Championship both use 10+5 over 9 rounds, while the Anderssen Evening Blitz uses 3+2 over 9 rounds. Meanwhile, Group E uses 30+30 for 7 rounds, and Groups F and G use 20+10 for 6 rounds.

The rules are also clear. Current FIDE rules apply, the default time in classical events is 30 minutes, and players may request two half-point byes in rounds 1–7. However, players with special conditions cannot use those byes. Players who pay in advance and appear as paid on the starting list do not need to confirm their presence at the festival office. Otherwise, they must report before the closing of the starting list. The organizer may also close registration earlier if the lists fill up.
