Hillerød Skakklub successfully staged another Hillerød Open weekend at U/Nord in March 2026.
That edition attracted 92 players across three groups, close to the November tournament’s maximum capacity of 96.
The Danish Chess Union described the March event as a major participation success. Players came not only from Denmark but also from Sweden, Ukraine, India, Switzerland, and the United States.
The November edition keeps the mixed rapid/classical “Swedish model.” However, its Friday rapid time control is 15+10, so players should not rely on the 25+10 format used in the March edition.

Based in Hillerød, North Zealand, the club was founded on February 3, 1910, when 16 founding members met at Hotel Kronprinsen.
