25th European Youth Rapid & Blitz Chess Championship 2026 will take place from July 6-10, 2026, in Rzeszów, Poland. This is a chess tournament in Rzeszów, Poland, in 2026.

The championship will bring young players from European national chess federations to compete for official ECU titles in rapid and blitz chess. It will include Open and Girls categories from U8 to U18.

The event will suit national federations, junior players, coaches, delegation leaders, parents, and chess families. In addition, the official program includes accommodation packages, airport transfers, an optional Rzeszów city tour, and a full awards ceremony.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

Rapid Championship

The rapid championship uses a time control of 15 minutes per player, plus a 10-second increment from move 1. It will run over 9 Swiss-system rounds, with one game in each round.

The rapid event will award official ECU titles in all Open and Girls age categories. Therefore, each category will have its own European Youth Rapid Champion.

Blitz Championship

The blitz championship uses a time control of 3 minutes per player, plus a 2-second increment from move 1. It will also run over 9 Swiss-system rounds.

Each blitz round includes two games. As a result, players will face the same opponent with both colors during each round.

Rules and Tie-Breaks

The championship will follow ECU regulations and the FIDE Laws of Chess. The final ranking will use direct encounter first. Then Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz, greater number of games with Black, and greater number of wins will decide remaining ties.

🏅 Awards

The championship will award official ECU titles in rapid and blitz chess. Winners in each category will receive the title of European Youth Rapid Champion or European Youth Blitz Champion for their age group.

The top 3 players in each category will receive trophies, medals, and prizes in kind. In addition, all participants will receive an official ECU Certificate of Participation.

Rapid Open Categories

U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 Open categories will compete for European Youth Rapid Champion titles.

Rapid Girls Categories

Girls U8, Girls U10, Girls U12, Girls U14, Girls U16, and Girls U18 categories will compete for European Youth Girls Rapid Champion titles.

Blitz Open Categories

U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 Open categories will compete for European Youth Blitz Champion titles.

Blitz Girls Categories

Girls U8, Girls U10, Girls U12, Girls U14, Girls U16, and Girls U18 categories will compete for European Youth Girls Blitz Champion titles.

Each European national federation may register any number of players in each age category, provided the players meet the age and federation requirements.

Podpromie Playing Hall, ul. Podpromie 10, 35-045 Rzeszów, Poland

The championship will take place at Podpromie Playing Hall in Rzeszów. The venue gives delegations a large indoor playing hall for the rapid and blitz program, as well as a central event base for the technical meeting, opening ceremony, and competition sessions.

🏨 Accommodation

All players and accompanying persons must stay in official hotels designated by the organizer. The official package covers 4 nights, from July 6 to July 10, 2026, with full board.

The package includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, organizational costs, and accreditation-related fees. In addition, official hotels located more than 2 km from the playing hall will have free shuttle transport according to the championship schedule.

Extra nights may be arranged on request, subject to availability. Hotel booking and accreditation become confirmed only after the required payment arrives.

🚆 How to Get There

Players and delegations can travel to Rzeszów through Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport or Kraków Airport. The organizer will arrange transfers from these airports to the official hotels on request.

Delegations should request transfers in advance and include arrival and departure details in the registration process. The official venue address also gives a clear destination for local transport within Rzeszów.

ℹ️ Other Practical Information

Players and accompanying persons who need a visa should contact the organizer before the June 6 registration deadline. Invitation letters will be issued after the necessary payments arrive.

ECU anti-cheating guidelines and the ECU Fair Play Code will apply throughout the championship. In addition, random anti-cheating inspections may take place during the competition.

The scoring system gives 1 point for a win, ½ point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. Finally, access to the playing hall and official venues will remain limited to accredited participants and officials.

Overall, this championship gives Europe’s young players a major opportunity to compete for official ECU rapid and blitz titles in Rzeszów.
