The Arnhem Open Chess Championship uses a 6-round Swiss system. Each player receives 90 minutes for the game, plus a 30-second increment from move one.

Players may request up to two half-point byes in the first five rounds. They must request those byes before the tournament starts.

Participation is open only to KNSB rating members. However, this requirement does not apply to players from abroad.

Players should register by email before the deadline and include their rating information. If more than 160 players register, the organizer will create a waiting list and add players in registration order when places become available.

Non-KNSB members pay €12.50 for KNSB rating membership. This extra fee does not apply to players from abroad.
