⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The Arnhem Open Chess Championship uses a 6-round Swiss system. Each player receives 90 minutes for the game, plus a 30-second increment from move one.

The tournament counts for FIDE and KNSB rating. Therefore, it gives players a useful classical chess tournament with international and Dutch rating value.

Players may request up to two half-point byes in the first five rounds. They must request those byes before the tournament starts.

Participation is open only to KNSB rating members. However, this requirement does not apply to players from abroad.

Group B Players rated up to 1900

The organizer divides players into two groups by Elo strength. Players rated above 1900 cannot enter Group B, while players rated below 1800 cannot enter Group A.

The organizer may make exceptions when needed. As a result, players close to the rating borders should register with full rating information.
