The AlphaChess Duality – FIDE Rapid & Blitz 2026 will take place at Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The one-day event combines two separate FIDE- and ECF-rated tournaments: six rounds of Rapid during the day followed by nine rounds of Blitz in the evening.

Players may enter either tournament individually or choose the discounted combined entry and play 15 rated games in one day. The Rapid uses a time control of 20 minutes + 5 seconds per move, while the Blitz switches to 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move.

The published prize fund totals £370, approximately $490, when the event reaches at least 30 entrants. Rapid and Blitz have separate standings, prize funds and prizegiving ceremonies, while AlphaChess also advertises overall trophies for the combined event.

Both competitions are submitted for FIDE and ECF rating.

The Chief Arbiter may use accelerated Swiss pairings. AlphaChess also publishes the default time as until clock expiry.

Players entering both competitions therefore play up to 15 rated games during the day, but the Rapid and Blitz remain separate events with their own standings and prizes.
