Gente Pensando Academia de Xadrez is a chess education and tournament organization based in Guarapari, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The academy develops chess programs for children, adults, schools, companies, and community groups. Moreover, it uses chess to strengthen concentration, logical reasoning, creativity, and decision-making skills.

Claudio Ferreira da Silva founded and directs Gente Pensando. He works as a pedagogue, chess instructor, arbiter, and tournament organizer. In addition, he has spent around 20 years teaching players of different ages and managing chess competitions. His work combines educational methods with practical tournament experience.

The Brazilian Chess Confederation recognizes Gente Pensando as an active tournament organizer under CBX Organizer ID 3202. Therefore, the academy can deliver official competitions that count toward national and international ratings. Claudio Ferreira also remains directly involved in event planning, participant communication, and tournament operations.

🏆 Tournaments and Competitive Activity

Gente Pensando organizes classical, rapid, blitz, scholastic, and community chess events. Its competitions welcome experienced players, juniors, beginners, and local club members. As a result, participants can find both introductory events and serious FIDE-rated tournaments.

The academy organizes the Guarapari Chess Open, one of its principal tournament projects. In 2026, the event entered the official Aberto do Brasil circuit. Moreover, the competition offered seven rounds of classical chess with CBX and FIDE rating calculation. Claudio Ferreira da Silva served as Tournament Director.

Gente Pensando also manages the Meaípe Chess Open in Guarapari. The 2026 edition featured six classical rounds and international rating calculation. In addition, the organizer worked with experienced arbiters and attracted players from several Brazilian states and Uruguay.

The organization extends its tournament activity beyond Guarapari. For example, it has managed the Pinheiros Chess Open and official competitions in Bom Jesus do Norte. These events combine Swiss-system pairings with CBX and FIDE rating opportunities. Consequently, Gente Pensando supports competitive chess across different areas of Espírito Santo.

The academy has also developed online and school-based tournament circuits. During its online series, players joined from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and the United States. Therefore, the project connected the local chess community with a wider international audience.

Chess education forms a central part of Gente Pensando’s work. The academy provides theoretical and practical instruction for students at different playing levels. Moreover, its activities include lessons, workshops, school programs, training clubs, and educational chess projects.

The organization develops programs for schools and other educational institutions. These activities integrate chess into the learning process through guided exercises and practical play. Consequently, students can improve cognitive skills while learning the rules, tactics, and strategic principles of chess.

Gente Pensando also creates educational resources and teaching methods. Its projects include the Tabuleiro Inteligente, which helps beginners understand chess concepts through a more accessible board design. In addition, Claudio Ferreira produces short educational content through the “Aprenda Xadrez em 5 Minutos” program.

Tournament participation supports the same development pathway. Students can study chess, practise regularly, and then enter organized competition. Meanwhile, experienced players receive opportunities to compete in nationally and internationally rated events. Above all, Gente Pensando connects chess education with active tournament participation.
