Floripa IRT Rating Series 2026 – U1700 / U2000 / U2400
The Floripa IRT Rating Series 2026 – U1700 / U2000 / U2400 will take place in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, from November 6–8, 2026. Organized by the Federação Catarinense de Xadrez (FCX) alongside the 65th Brazilian Women’s Chess Championship, the series offers three separate FIDE-rated classical tournaments divided by rating ceiling.
The U2400, U2000 and U1700 tournaments each consist of six Swiss rounds at 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move. Players compete only within their chosen rating section, with eligibility determined using the applicable November 1, 2026 rating list.
Across the three tournaments, the organizer offers R$9,000 in cash prizes, with R$4,000 allocated to U2400, R$3,000 to U2000 and R$2,000 to U1700. All three events share the same playing venue and official hotel at Hotel Canasvieiras IN.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
All three IRT sections use the same competition format:
6-round Swiss System · 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move from move one.
The tournaments count for both FIDE international rating and CBX national rating.
Each rating section has its own pairings, standings and FIDE Event ID:
| Section | FIDE Event ID |
|---|---|
| U2400 | 499614 |
| U2000 | 499617 |
| U1700 | 499620 |
The default time is 60 minutes after the scheduled start of the round. An unjustified forfeit also results in the player not being paired for subsequent rounds unless the situation is properly justified to the organizer.
🏆 Prize Fund
The three Floripa IRT tournaments distribute a combined R$9,000 in cash prizes.

📍 Venue
Hotel Canasvieiras IN – Rua Madre Maria Villac, 2020, Canasvieiras, Florianópolis, SC 88054-001, Brazil.
Hotel Canasvieiras IN is both the official playing venue and official accommodation for the tournament programme.
The hotel is in the Canasvieiras district in the north of Florianópolis Island, close to Canasvieiras Beach. Its conference facilities allow the three IRT sections and the Brazilian Women’s Championship to be staged in the same property.
🏨 Accommodation
The organizer offers an official IRT package combining tournament entry, accommodation and full board at Hotel Canasvieiras IN.
The IRT package covers:
Check-in: November 6 after 14:00
Check-out: November 8 by 12:00
Stay: 2 nights
Meals: Full board from dinner on November 6 through lunch on November 8
IRT Player Package
| Room Type | Player | Companion |
|---|---|---|
| Single | R$1,100 | R$800 |
| Double | R$900 per person | R$640 per person |
| Triple | R$800 per person | R$560 per person |
Additional Night
If an extra night is required, the published per-person rates with breakfast only are:
| Room Type | Extra Night |
|---|---|
| Single | R$260 |
| Double | R$240 |
| Triple | R$220 |
Hotel-package reservations and payments must be arranged exclusively through the tournament organization:
Because the games are played in the same hotel, the official package eliminates daily travel to the tournament hall and is particularly convenient for the 09:00 and 20:00 rounds.
🚆 How to Get There
From Florianópolis International Airport
Florianópolis International Airport – Hercílio Luz (FLN) is the main airport for the tournament.
Hotel Canasvieiras IN is in the north of the island, approximately 35 km from the airport. A taxi or app-based car is the simplest direct option, especially for players carrying luggage.
Traffic conditions can significantly affect the journey, so players arriving on Friday should leave ample time before the 20:00 first round.
By Public Transport from the Airport
The official Florianópolis bus network operates Line 431 – TICEN / Aeroporto, connecting the airport with the central TICEN – Terminal de Integração do Centro.
From central Florianópolis, players can continue north toward Canasvieiras. One direct option from the city terminal area is the 1120 Executivo Canasvieiras service.
Local buses serving the Canasvieiras area also connect through TICAN – Terminal de Integração de Canasvieiras. Routes in the district include services along Rua Madre Maria Villac, where Hotel Canasvieiras IN is located.
Public transport is considerably cheaper than a private transfer, but it involves at least one connection and takes longer. For players arriving close to Round 1, a direct taxi or ride-hailing service is safer.
By Car
Drivers should navigate directly to:
Hotel Canasvieiras IN – Rua Madre Maria Villac, 2020, Canasvieiras, Florianópolis, SC 88054-001, Brazil.
Canasvieiras is reached from central and southern Florianópolis primarily through the road network leading toward the north of the island.
Allow extra time during busy periods, as traffic between the airport, central Florianópolis and the northern beaches can be slow.
