♟️ About Club d’Échecs de Hindisheim
Club d’Échecs de Hindisheim is an active chess organization based in Hindisheim, Bas-Rhin, France, south of Strasbourg. The association welcomes both children and adults and combines chess instruction, recreational play, competitive training, team competition, and tournament organization.
The present association was established in 2024 with the objective of promoting and developing the practice of chess in Hindisheim. Despite being relatively young, the club has already developed a substantial membership and a structured program for children and adults.
Serge Hirstel serves as President and is the club’s principal public contact and tournament organizer. The French Chess Federation currently records 42 Licence A and 72 Licence B members, giving the club more than 100 registered players. Its adult and junior teams both participate in regional interclub competition.

Tournament organization has quickly become an important part of the Club d’Échecs de Hindisheim program.
The club launched the Open de Hindisheim in December 2025. The first edition was a seven-round FIDE-rated classical tournament played at the club’s regular venue in Hindisheim. Serge Hirstel served as organizer, while Rachid Heddache was Chief Arbiter.
