⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
The 2026 Mississauga Open uses a 5-round Swiss system. Each player receives 90 minutes for the game, with a 30-second delay.
All sections count for CFC Regular rating. In addition, the Open and U1800 sections count for FIDE Standard rating.
The default time is 60 minutes for Rounds 1 and 2. After that, the default time is 30 minutes for all remaining rounds.
Tie-breaks follow this order: direct encounter, Buchholz Cut 1, and most games with the black pieces.
💰 Prize Fund
Cash prizes are based on entries. With 100 participants, the total cash prize fund is CAD 3,350. With 130 participants, the total cash prize fund is CAD 5,000.

Cash prizes are divided equally among players who finish with the same score.
Unrated players can win a maximum prize of CAD 100.
There will be no award ceremony after the tournament. Cash prizes will be sent to winners by e-transfer.
