1st SJEM 2027 Qualification Tournament Hergiswil 2026
The 1st SJEM 2027 Qualification Tournament Hergiswil 2026 takes place from September 4–6, 2026, in Hergiswil, Nidwalden, Switzerland. JSV Caissa Nidwalden and the Swiss Chess Federation organize the event at Loppersaal Grossmatt.
The tournament serves as the first qualifier for the 2027 Swiss Youth Individual Chess Championship. Moreover, young players can compete in five age categories: U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18.
Each section features seven Swiss-system rounds. The organizer schedules three rapid games on Friday evening and four standard games during the weekend. In addition, every game counts toward FIDE rating.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
The organizer runs every age category as a seven-round Swiss-system tournament. However, the event uses two different time controls during the weekend.
Rounds 1–3 use a rapid time control of 15 minutes plus 3 seconds per move. Players do not need to record their moves during these rounds.
Rounds 4–7 use a standard time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move. Therefore, players must maintain an accurate scoresheet during every standard game.

The organizer applies the FIDE Laws of Chess and the regulations for the Swiss Youth Individual Championship. Consequently, participants must follow all instructions from the arbiters.
