Set in the hilltop town of Amelia, Italy, the 6th International Chess Tournament Città di Amelia returns on July 10-12, 2026 with three FIDE-rated standard sections and a full weekend of competitive chess in the city’s historic center. The organizer runs a 5-round Swiss format with rating-based groups, adds rapid and blitz side events earlier in the week, and supports the experience with live-board highlights and on-site player benefits.

The tournament targets a wide range of players through Open A, Open B, and Open C, while also offering separate FIDE-rated Rapid and Blitz events on July 8–9. The organizer guarantees a €3,330 total cash prize fund (gross) for the standard events across Open A–C and adds trophies and special awards on top. The venue lineup includes multiple central halls in Amelia, including Palazzo Petrignani, and the organizer streams selected top boards online while providing every standard-event participant with a tournament pack, a gadget, and a commemorative T-shirt.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The organizer runs Open A, Open B, and Open C as 5-round Swiss System tournaments and uses a standard time control of 90 minutes per player with a 30-second increment per move. Players may arrive up to 60 minutes after the scheduled start of a round; after that limit, the organizer scores the game as a forfeit loss. The organizer uses International Buchholz as the main standings method and applies these tie-breaks in order: Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz Total, and opponents’ average rating (ARO). The organizer awards 1 point for a PAB (Pairing Allocated Bye).

For side events, the organizer runs a 9-round FIDE Rapid tournament (12+3) and a 12-round FIDE Blitz tournament (5+3), both as Elo-rated events for their respective rating lists.
