The 2026 Mississauga Open, June 5-7, 2026, in Mississauga, Canada offers a compact five-round Swiss weekend with serious classical games and a strong competitive mix across three sections. You can play in the Open, U1800, or U1300 section and aim for CFC Regular rating gains, while the Open and U1800 sections also offer FIDE Standard rating. The organizer caps the field at 130 players, which keeps the event focused and manageable for players and arbiters. The tournament uses a long time control with a 30-second delay per move, which supports high-quality play and full-length endgames. The organizer funds cash prizes from entries and lists a $3,350 CAD total cash prize pool at 100 participants.

Mississauga Chess Club hosts the event at its main playing location and runs a clear schedule with one round on Friday evening, two rounds on Saturday, and two rounds on Sunday. You can request up to two half-point byes in rounds 1–3 before Round 1 starts, and you can only take zero-point byes in rounds 4–5. The organizer enforces a 30-minute forfeit time, applies published tie-breaks, and splits prize money equally among tied players. You can pay by e-transfer or in person, and the organizer sets a firm refund cutoff date close to the event. If you want a rated weekend tournament in the Greater Toronto Area with multiple sections and a practical venue setup, this event fits well.
