The $2,000 October Championship, scheduled for October 2–4, includes FIDE- and US Chess-rated sections. Immediately afterward, the Houston Chess Studio is scheduled to host the 1st Azeri Chess Academy Open, a norm-eligible FIDE event for stronger players. 🌟 2027 Texas Senior Championship

Poison Pawns Chess Club will organize the 2027 Texas Senior Chess Championship on March 20–21, 2027 at the Houston Chess Studio. The championship is officially sanctioned by US Chess and the Texas Chess Association. Eligible players aged 50 and above can compete. However, only Texas residents can win the state title, tournament prizes, and the right to represent Texas at the John T. Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champions. The tournament will use a five-round Swiss system at G/75, d5. The leading eligible Texas player receives a $375 first prize and trophy. In addition, TCA provides a separate $500 travel stipend to the qualifying representative after participation in the national senior championship. Poison Pawns has also published upcoming 2027 Texas Action and Texas Quick Chess Championships, extending its role in the state championship calendar.
