56 56 people viewed this event.

The Kilkenny Chess Club 48th Annual Congress 2026 takes place from November 20–22, 2026 across central Kilkenny, Ireland. Four classical sections are split between the Ormonde Hotel and Club House Hotel, followed by a Sunday-evening blitz event.

The International Masters, Major, Stars Barred and Seniors 60+ sections use 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment from move one. The Major and Seniors sections are FIDE rated, while the International Masters and Stars Barred are listed as non-FIDE-rated events.

The published cash schedule totals more than €6,000 before any adjustments, but the regulations explicitly state that the prize fund may change according to entry numbers. For that reason, the separate fixed USD prize field is left blank.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

All four classical sections use 90+30. The latest available ICU rating list applies; the organizer explicitly states that “live” ratings are not accepted for section classification.

Friday Travel Bye

A travelling bye is available for Friday night when arranged with the organizer before Thursday, November 19. Bye requests for later rounds should be submitted to the section arbiter before the end of the previous round.

Published Schedule Numbering Note

The regulations list five playing time slots—Friday evening, two on Saturday and two on Sunday—but the final Sunday 3:00 PM line is labelled “Round 6” in the source. Players should therefore follow the official ICU pairings and section arbiter for the final round number rather than relying on that apparent numbering inconsistency.
