The Trierer 12h-Blitzmarathon 2026 takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the PST-Trier clubhouse in Trier, Germany. The chess section of PST-Trier e.V. organizes a full twelve-hour blitz day from 9:00 AM until roughly 9:00 PM.
Instead of a normal Swiss tournament, the event uses a multi-phase round-robin system. Players begin in one common group, then move into performance-based table groups; points from every phase remain part of the overall score, and the upper final table determines eligibility for the leading places.
The published cash awards total €195 / approx. $230, together with trophies for places one through six. The format prioritizes a very large number of games and continuous competition rather than a conventional fixed-round Swiss schedule.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
All points earned in every tournament phase carry forward into the overall score. The field first plays together, then is divided into performance-based table groups. Later phases use progressively smaller groups, and from the third division onward the organizer may use double round robins.
Pairings can be random or seeded using the organizer’s sliding / rotation system. Only players who reach the final upper table group can finish in the leading overall places; the other groups play for the following ranking positions.
Final Ranking
The total score from all phases determines the standings. A blitz playoff is used for places 1–6 under the published format.
