33rd Sparkassenturnier Hoyerswerda 2026
33rd Sparkassenturnier Hoyerswerda 2026 brings club teams to Hoyerswerda for a full weekend of rapid chess on September 12 and 13. FVS ASP Hoyerswerda e.V. organizes the 33rd edition at VISAVIS in the historic town center. Moreover, the format gives every team 13 matches, so the event offers considerably more play than a typical one-day team rapid.
Each team uses four boards and may register one substitute. The organizer caps the field at 32 teams and separates the prize classifications into an open category and a rating-limited category. Therefore, captains should confirm the team lineup, category, entry payment, and acceptance before they book non-refundable travel. Finally, the published regulations provide the complete timetable, tie-break order, rating calculation, and conditional prize structure.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
Each player receives 10 minutes for the game and a five-second increment from move one. In addition, Swiss-Manager produces the team pairings and board assignments for all 13 rounds. The final ranking uses match points first, followed by extended Sonneborn-Berger and board points.
The organizer applies a 10-minute default time. Consequently, captains should assemble the complete team in the hall before every round and should report any substitute change immediately.
🏆 Prize Fund
Total Prize Fund: €3,200 / approx. $3,650. The organizer guarantees the Category A fund when at least 15 Category A teams enter and the Category B fund when at least 12 Category B teams enter.

📂 Sections / Groups
| Category | Eligibility |
|---|---|
| Category A | Open team category |
| Category B | Average team tournament rating below 2100 under the published calculation method |
For a five-player roster, the organizer calculates the Category B average from the four highest tournament ratings. In addition, the rules use the higher applicable FIDE or national rating from the published September lists.

📍 Venue
VISAVIS – Schloßstraße 2, 02977 Hoyerswerda, Germany. VISAVIS belongs to the Lausitzhalle event network and provides a large main hall for conferences, cultural programs, and competitions. The building stands in Hoyerswerda’s old-town area near Schloss Hoyerswerda, so participants should navigate to Schloßstraße 2 rather than to the separate main Lausitzhalle address.
The central location gives teams access to restaurants, shops, and local services between rounds. However, another event may reduce nearby parking, so drivers should arrive early and follow local parking signs.
🚗 How to Get There
| Travel Option | Practical Information |
|---|---|
| By Train | Travel to Hoyerswerda railway station at Bahnhofsallee 1. Then continue by local bus, taxi, or a walk of roughly 15 minutes toward the old town. Check current rail information on Deutsche Bahn. |
| By Local Bus | Use the Hoyerswerda network toward the old-town and Schloßstraße area. Because weekend schedules may change, confirm the stop and departure time through Verkehrsgesellschaft Hoyerswerda. |
| By Car | Use the B96 or B97 approach to Hoyerswerda and enter Schloßstraße 2 in the navigation system. Allow extra time for public parking and the final walk to VISAVIS. |
| By Air | Dresden and Berlin provide the main international airport options. Both require a substantial onward rail or road journey, so Friday arrival offers the safest schedule. |
🏨 Accommodation Near the Venue
The organizer does not require a tournament hotel. Therefore, teams can choose accommodation according to budget, transport, and room configuration.
| Accommodation Option | Location and Practical Notes |
