Senigallia – 5th International Chess Festival Spiaggia di Velluto 2026 comes to Senigallia, Italy, from June 17 to June 21, 2026. The festival will be played at Senb Hotel and brings another multi-section classical weekend to the Adriatic coast.

The event divides the field into three sections. Tournaments A and B run from June 17 to June 21, while Tournament C runs from June 20 to June 21. Moreover, the festival combines longer classical events for higher-rated players with a shorter section for players under 1600.

The setting also adds practical value. Senb Hotel stands a short walk from the railway station, about 150 meters from the beach, and close to Senigallia’s historic center. In addition, the organizers have published hotel rates, meal options, parking details, and beach-service information.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

Tournaments A and B use a 6-round Swiss system with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move. Meanwhile, Tournament C uses a 5-round Swiss system with 30 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.

The festival also applies clear late-arrival rules. In Tournaments A and B, the maximum lateness is 60 minutes. In Tournament C, the maximum lateness is 30 minutes. Therefore, players should check in and reach the board on time.

Tie-breaks follow the same order in all three tournaments. First comes Buchholz Cut 1, then Buchholz Total, and finally Average Rating of Opponents. In addition, a Pairing Allocated Bye (PAB) scores 1 point.

The festival offers a total confirmed prize fund of EUR 3,300 (approx. USD 3,580).

The playing venue is a 4-star hotel in a very practical part of Senigallia. It is only a short walk from the railway station, about 150 meters from the beach, and close to the famous Rotonda a Mare and the historic center.

🛏️ Accommodation

The hotel agreement also applies to accompanying persons. In addition, extra meals cost EUR 25 and include a first course, second course, side dish, water, a quarter-liter of wine, and coffee.

Beach service is available on request. Moreover, the hotel offers bicycle rental and an internal garage on reservation. A tourist tax of EUR 2 per person per night also applies.

🚗 How to Get There

Senb Hotel is one of the easiest venues to reach in Senigallia. Players can arrive on foot from the railway station, while drivers can use the hotel area and reserved garage when spaces are available. Because the venue is also close to the beach and city center, local movement during the festival is simple.

ℹ️ Other

The referee’s decisions are final. In addition, the festival follows the current FIDE rules and the current Italian technical rules for any point not stated directly in the regulations.

The organizers may also make changes if they need them for the smooth running of the event. By entering, players accept the publication of pairings, results, personal tournament data, and event photos on the organizers’ website and social media.
