The format is straightforward. First, the Master section runs across the full week on 9 rounds. Then Tournaments A, B, and C begin on August 11 and finish on August 15 over 7 rounds. The regulations also require Italian players and foreign players resident in Italy to hold FSI membership, while foreign players need a FIN to take part.

Electronic devices are not allowed in the competition area unless the arbiter specifically approves them. Players may store switched-off devices in a bag only under the published conditions, and the event also states that random checks may take place during the tournament.
