WKU Topper December will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The one-day tournament features four US Chess-rated rounds in a single Open section, allowing players of different rating levels to compete together in a straightforward Swiss-system format.

All games use G/45 +5, giving each player 45 minutes plus a five-second increment after every move. The event is US Chess rated but not FIDE rated, and every participant must have an active US Chess membership through December 2026 before arriving at the tournament.

Instead of a fixed guaranteed prize fund, WKU Topper December returns 97.5% of all collected entry fees as prizes. Awards include first and second overall, Class A through D/E prizes, and two separate awards for unrated players. Therefore, the final cash amounts increase or decrease according to tournament participation.
