⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The tournament uses a classical time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves. After that, each player receives 30 minutes for the rest of the game. In addition, a 30-second increment applies from move 1.

Pairings follow the Swiss system across 7 rounds. The tournament uses Swiss-Chess for administration and counts for both FIDE rating and DWZ rating.

FIDE rules apply together with the tournament regulations of the Saarland Chess Federation and the German Chess Federation. Also, Buchholz serves as the first tie-break, followed by Sonneborn-Berger.

👥 Sections / Groups

Meisterturnier

The Meisterturnier is the top section of the Saarland individual championships. The best Saarland player from an SSV club wins the Saarland Champion 2026 title and may represent Saarland at national level.

A-Turnier

The A-Turnier is intended for players with TWZ above 1600, unless a player has a pre-qualified place from SEM 2025.

B-Turnier

The B-Turnier is intended for players with TWZ above 1300, unless a player has a pre-qualified place from SEM 2025.

C-Turnier

The C-Turnier is intended for players with TWZ below 1301. In addition, the section includes extra TWZ prizes for players under 1200, under 1000, and under 800.
