
European School Chess Championship 2025
The European School Chess Championship 2025 will gather young chess talents from across Europe in the picturesque resort town of Mamaia, Constanța, Romania, from May 29 to June 8, 2025. Organized by the European Chess Union (ECU), in collaboration with the Romanian Chess Federation and Universal Chess Club, this prestigious event offers a platform for students to showcase their strategic prowess and compete in a spirit of camaraderie and excellence.

🕒 Time Control
Each game will follow the classical time control format:
- 90 minutes for the first 40 moves
- 30 minutes added after move 40
- 30-second increment per move starting from move one
🗓️ Schedule & Rounds
The championship will consist of 9 rounds played over nine days, with one round per day. A rest day may be scheduled mid-tournament, providing participants an opportunity to relax and explore the local area.
🏆 Prize Fund & Awards
Participants will compete for medals, trophies, and titles in their respective categories. The top three players in each category will receive:
- Gold Medal for 1st place
- Silver Medal for 2nd place
- Bronze Medal for 3rd place
📝 Registration & Participation
- Eligibility: Open to players from ECU member federations born on or after January 1 of the respective age category.
- Age Categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 (Open and Girls sections)
- Registration Deadline: April 18, 2025
Each federation may register an unlimited number of players per category. Players who hold personal rights, such as previous champions, receive free board and lodging for the duration of the event.

- Entry Fee: €60 per player
