Aktobe Open 2026 – Vladimir Dvorkovich Memorial brings the first stage of the Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2026 to Aktobe, Kazakhstan from June 2 to June 12, 2026. The event features two classical international tournaments and continues the memorial dedicated to International Arbiter Vladimir Yakovlevich Dvorkovich.

The tournament combines a strong Masters section with a broad Open section, both played over 9 Swiss rounds with 90+30 classical time control. In addition, the Masters event is part of the FIDE Circuit, which gives it extra weight for top players.

The festival also offers one of the biggest published prize structures in the region for 2026. Therefore, it stands out not only as a national cup stage, but also as a serious international open in Central Asia.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

Both tournaments use the Swiss system over 9 rounds, and Swiss Manager handles the pairings. The time control is 90+30, while the default time is 30 minutes. Therefore, a player who arrives more than 30 minutes late loses the game.

The organizers also apply standard FIDE fair-play measures. In addition, the broadcast will run with a 15-minute delay. Players may not agree to a draw before move 30, which keeps the games more competitive deep into each round.

The Masters tournament also counts for the FIDE Circuit. As a result, it carries extra importance for players chasing high-level international results.

🚗 How to Get There

ℹ️ Other

The tournament applies several important player rules. Draw offers are not allowed before move 30. Players must follow a business casual or smart casual dress code, and shorts or slippers are not allowed. Smoking is prohibited in the playing hall. Once a player finishes a game, that player becomes a spectator and must leave the tournament hall.

Scorekeeping is mandatory for all participants except those in the Under 6 category. After two warnings for failing to record the game, the arbiter declares the game lost. If the same problem happens again in a later game, the player is disqualified. Moreover, participants, coaches, and accompanying persons must follow public conduct rules and basic standards of decency during the event.

Players may appeal an arbiter decision within 1 hour after the round ends. The appeal fee is KZT 100,000, and the Appeals Committee refunds it if the appeal succeeds. The committee’s decision is final. The regulations also require participants to accept official photo and video use for tournament promotion.

Aktobe Open 2026 offers a high-level classical tournament week with a major prize fund, FIDE Circuit value in the Masters, and clear player conditions across both sections.
