The festival uses Swiss-system pairings in all four sections. Open A, Open B, and Open C run over 9 rounds, while Open D runs over 8 rounds.

Each player receives 90 minutes for the game, plus a 30-second increment from move one. Therefore, the tournament gives players a true classical chess tournament format with FIDE rating value.

Players may arrive up to 60 minutes after the official round start. A later arrival causes a forfeit loss.

Tie-breaks follow International Buchholz. The order is Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz Total, and Average Rating of Opponents. The Pairing Allocated Bye counts as a win.

💰 Prize Fund

The confirmed cash prize fund is €3,500, approximately $4,100. Vouchers, books, DVDs, trophies, cups, and other non-cash awards are not included in this cash total.

🧩 Sections / Groups

The organizer may award wildcards to players below the minimum section rating. The maximum number of wildcards is 4 in Open A, 3 in Open B, and 2 in Open C.

Italian players and foreign players resident in Italy need valid FSI 2026 competitive or junior membership. Players without the required membership may arrange it through the organizing club at the playing venue.

🚆 How to Get There

Grand Hotel Adriatico is close to the Pescara Nord exit of the A14 Bologna–Bari motorway. This makes arrival by car convenient for players traveling along the Adriatic coast.

The hotel is about 8 km from Pescara railway station and about 14 km from Pescara Airport. After arrival in Pescara, players can continue to Montesilvano by taxi, local transport, or private transfer.
