⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
Players receive 90 minutes for the first 40 moves. After that, they receive 15 minutes for the rest of the game. In addition, every move adds a 30-second increment from move one.
The tournament uses a 5-round Swiss system. All groups count for DWZ rating. The Chessence Masters and selected Premium Open groups also count for Elo rating.
Players must arrive at the board within 30 minutes after the round starts. Otherwise, they lose the game by forfeit.
The main ranking starts with points and then Sonneborn-Berger. If needed, the organizer may apply additional tie-break criteria.
Players may request a half-point bye in Round 1. However, they must submit the bye request by December 10, 2026, at 20:00. They must also confirm participation by phone before the tournament starts.
💰 Prize Fund
The organizer guarantees prizes in every group when at least six players compete in that group. The minimum published prize amount is €240 per group, or at least €960 total, which equals approximately USD 1,120.

🧩 Sections / Groups
The tournament has four playing groups.
Chessence Masters is for players with DWZ or Elo of 1900 or higher. Players with a “Werde FIDE-Meister” membership may also enter this group.
Chessence Premium Open A is for players rated 1700–1999 DWZ.
Chessence Premium Open B is for players rated 1400–1699 DWZ.
Chessence Premium Open C is for players rated below 1400 DWZ.
Players are sorted into groups based on their rating data in the registration form. If a player has no DWZ or FIDE Elo, the tournament director decides the correct group.
The tournament director may adjust group assignments if needed. For example, groups may be merged when entries are too low, or players may move between groups to support a smooth tournament format.
