Premier Division

The Premier Division uses a classical time control of 90 minutes per player, plus a 30-second increment from move 1. It runs over 9 rounds and carries FIDE and ACF rating status. In addition, the division offers GM and IM norm opportunities.

Major players receive 60 minutes each, plus a 30-second increment from move 1. This division has 7 rounds and counts for FIDE, ACF, and Queensland Junior ratings.

Premier Division

The Premier Division includes the Queensland Championships. Players need a FIDE rating of 2000 or above for this section. As a result, it suits strong players seeking a high-level FIDE and ACF rated event.

Major Division

The Major Division is open to players with an ACF rating of 1200 and above or a FIDE rating below 2000. Local juniors under 18 years from the Toowoomba area with an ACF rating above 1200 play in this division through the Local Junior entry pathway.

Minor Division

ℹ️ Other Practical Information

The tournament applies a 30-minute default time after each round starts. Therefore, players should arrive early and be ready before their scheduled games.

Players must keep mobile phones and other communication devices switched off in the playing area. Also, players may not analyze games in the playing area while games are in progress.

No smoking or vaping is allowed in the playing venue, analysis or lecture areas, or any other part of the school premises. In addition, appeals require a AU$100 bond. The bond is refunded if the appeal succeeds or if the appeals committee decides to refund it after an unsuccessful appeal.
