Pohár města Říčany 2026 runs from August 22-29, 2026, in Říčany, Czech Republic. This is a chess tournament in Říčany, Czech Republic, in 2026. It returns for its 24th edition and again offers a full classical week near Prague in one of the Czech summer circuit’s established opens.

The event uses a nine-round Swiss format and splits the field into two sections. Open A targets stronger players and also hosts several Central Bohemian Championship categories, while Open B gives lower-rated players their own FIDE-rated tournament. The published cash prize fund totals CZK 78,000 in all, which is approximately USD 3,600.

Kulturní centrum Labuť gives the tournament a practical city venue. In addition, the official program also includes a blitz tournament on the opening Saturday, so the week starts with extra competitive play before the main classical event begins.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The tournament uses a nine-round Swiss system in both sections. Open A plays with 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment from move one, while Open B uses 60 minutes plus a 30-second increment. As a result, both groups keep a clear classical structure across the full week.

The waiting time is 60 minutes. Meanwhile, tie-breaks follow this order: points, median Buchholz, Buchholz, progressive score, and then drawing of lots. One half-point bye per round is available from rounds 1 to 5 if the player requests it on time and has already paid the entry fee.

Open A also serves as the Central Bohemian Championship for men, women, U18, and U20. In addition, Open B includes the regional girls’ U18 and U20 championship categories. PGN files from Open A will be published electronically on the official tournament site.

🏆 Prize Fund

The published cash prize fund totals CZK 78,000, which is approximately USD 3,600. That amount combines CZK 55,000 in tournament prizes and CZK 23,000 in additional Central Bohemian Championship prizes. Players receive only the highest prize available to them, so the awards do not accumulate.
