15. „Unser Fritz“ Open & Basic 2026 takes place from June 2-7, 2026 in Herne, Germany. This is a chess tournament in Herne, Germany, in 2026. ⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
Both sections use FIDE-based Swiss pairings. The Open follows the standard Swiss system under FIDE rules, while the Basic tournament uses an accelerated Swiss system under FIDE rules. Each player receives 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and then 30 additional minutes for the rest of the game, together with a 30-second increment from move one. Therefore, both events follow a full classical chess tournament structure across six playing days.
In addition, players may request one half-point bye in one of the first five rounds if they announce it in advance. The published tie-break order is Buchholz with one discarded result, then cumulative score, and finally drawing of lots. The waiting time is 30 minutes from the official start of the round.
Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be switched off and placed next to the board or stored in a separate bag. The arbiter may impose a sanction under the applicable FIDE rules if a player carries or uses such a device improperly.
