Asian Amateur Chess Championship 2025
The Asian Amateur Chess Championships 2025 are scheduled to take place from August 1 to August 9, 2025, in Hong Kong, China. Organized by the Hong Kong Chess Federation under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) and FIDE, this prestigious event offers a significant platform for amateur players across Asia to compete and showcase their talents.โ
๐ Venue & Atmosphere
The playing venue shall be at the TWGHs Tungpo in King Fuk St, San Po Kong, Kowloon.
โ๏ธ Tournament Format
- Rounds: 9-round Swiss-system
- Time Control: 90 minutes for the entire game, with a 30-second increment per move from the start
- Sections:
- Under 1700: Open and Women
- Under 2000: Open and Women
- Under 2300: Open
- Ratings: The tournament will be rated both nationally and internationally, allowing participants to improve their standings.
Additionally, rapid and blitz events will be organized with the following time controls:โ
- Rapid: 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment per move
- Blitz: 5 minutes plus 3 seconds increment per moveโ
๐ฐ Prize Fund
Organizers will distribute a total prize fund of $7,500 among the top performers in each category, ensuring fair competition and offering exciting incentives for all participants.

- Registration Fee: USD 125 per player
- Total: USD 200 per participant
- Organizers will apply a late fee of USD 50 to registrations submitted after the deadline.

- Organizers will award direct FIDE titles to winners in the Under 2300 category.
- World Championship Qualification: Winners from each rating section qualify with personal rights to the 2025 World Amateur Chess Championships, provided they don’t reach or exceed a 2300 rating by the registration deadline.
- Organizers do not provide official accommodation, so they advise participants to book early to secure reasonable rates.
