The Dubai Chess & Culture Club, established in 1981, organizes the tournament. As one of the most prestigious chess clubs globally, it has a rich history of promoting chess in the UAE and hosting international competitions. The club operates under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with Ebrahim Al Bannai serving as Chairman and Mohamed Husseiny as General Manager.​

🏆 Tournament Format & Time Control

• System: 9-round Swiss system
• Time Control: 90 minutes per player for the entire game, with a 30-second increment per move starting from move one
• Default Time: 30 minutes​

The tournament features two main categories:​

• Category A: For players rated 2300 and above
• Category B: For players rated between 1600 and 2299​

Each category is FIDE-rated, providing players the opportunity to gain rating points and norms.​

💰 Prize Fund

The tournament boasts a substantial prize fund of USD 52,000, distributed across both categories. Prizes are awarded to top performers, with special awards for best female players, juniors, and local participants.​

📝 Registration & Entry Fees

Registration is open until May 5, 2025. Entry fees are as follows:​

• Category A:

  • GM / WGM / WIM: Free
  • IM (Elo ≥ 2400): Free
  • IM (Elo < 2400), FM, WFM: USD 100
  • Other players (Elo < 2400): USD 250

• Category B:

  • Titled players: USD 150
  • Non-titled players: USD 250​

Visa assistance is available upon request, with processing fees of USD 100 for players and USD 125 for accompanying persons.​
