ℹ️ Other Information

The organizer may verify license and rating information before confirming an entry.

Food is arranged individually. The official regulations mention local ordering possibilities but do not include meals in the entry fee.

Players should keep evidence of advance registration and payment, especially when arriving close to the attendance deadline.

Eligibility is based on three different FIDE rating types. Standard, Rapid and Blitz must all remain below 1900 under the published rule. A player whose current Rapid rating is under the limit may still be ineligible when the Standard or Blitz rating exceeds it, so all three records should be checked before payment.

The morning cutoff is strict. Normal on-site registration ends at 9:30 a.m.; entries between 9:30 and 9:45 incur a HUF 3,000 surcharge, and the organizer accepts no new registration after 9:45. Players travelling from Miskolc or another town should leave a realistic margin for Sunday transport and parking.

The tournament runs seven rounds continuously from 10:00 a.m. to the expected 4:30 p.m. prizegiving. Food is not included in the entry fee. The regulations mention local ordering possibilities, but players should bring water and confirm any meal order before the rounds become continuous.

The HUF 155,000 fund includes four overall prizes and four special HUF 10,000 awards. A player should confirm how the U1600, unrated, organizer-club and special-draw awards interact with an overall prize. License or HPL validity must also be settled before the organizer confirms the entry.

Schedule Round 1 begins at 10:00 and the awards ceremony is expected around 16:30.

About CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi SE

CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi SE is an established chess organization based in Edelény, Hungary. Its full registered name is CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi Sportegyesület. The club represents Edelény in national team competitions. Moreover, it organizes rated tournaments for adults, juniors, club players, and developing competitors.

The organization has taken part in Hungarian team chess for many years. Its teams have competed in the national championship structure, including the NB I and NB II divisions. During the 2025/2026 season, the club entered two teams in national competitions. Therefore, its members can gain regular experience in serious over-the-board matches.

Galkó Tibor serves as the club’s main tournament director and public contact. He is also a National Arbiter and regularly works with experienced arbiters, local authorities, chess clubs, and the Hungarian Chess Federation. Consequently, CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi SE can manage both local rapid events and larger FIDE-rated competitions.

Tournaments and Competitive Activity

The club organizes a varied program of classical, rapid, and blitz tournaments. One of its major events is the Edelény Chess Meeting. This multi-day competition offers FIDE-rated classical chess in separate rating groups. In addition, the tournament program may include a blitz event and a substantial prize fund.

CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi SE also runs the Bódva Cup rapid tournament. The event gives players below the published rating limit an opportunity to earn FIDE Rapid rating points. Moreover, it provides overall prizes and awards for lower-rated, unrated, and club players. The tournament also promotes the cultural and natural attractions of Edelény and the Bódva Valley.

Another important project is the 10 Cities for Hungarian Chess rapid series. The club organizes events in cooperation with chess organizations and local partners across Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. These tournaments use several rating and age groups. Therefore, experienced players, amateurs, juniors, and beginners can all take part.

The organization also stages the Edelény City Individual Rapid Chess Championship. This open competition welcomes players from outside the city as well as local members. Meanwhile, the club continues to develop new tournament formats and rating-limited events. As a result, players can choose from several competitive opportunities during the season.

Junior Chess and Community Development

Junior participation forms an important part of the club’s activities. Its rapid events often include separate groups for children and developing players. In addition, organizers provide trophies, medals, certificates, and age-category prizes. These awards encourage young participants while keeping the tournaments accessible.

The club has a long record of participation in Hungarian youth chess. Edelényi Városi SE has entered teams in national junior and children’s championships. Its young players have also competed in individual national age-group events. Therefore, juniors can progress from regional tournaments to higher levels of competition.

CLUB-MATE Edelényi Városi SE works closely with municipalities, cultural centers, schools, regional clubs, and the county chess federation. This cooperation helps the club provide suitable venues and organized playing conditions. Moreover, it connects chess tournaments with the wider cultural life of Edelény and nearby towns. The club’s events welcome players with different levels of experience. Some competitions focus on FIDE-rated players, while others include beginners and participants without a federation licence. Consequently, more people can experience structured tournament chess. Above all, the organization combines competitive ambition with strong community involvement.
