19th Werner-Obermeyer-Open Ortenburg
The 19th Werner-Obermeyer-Open is scheduled to take place from Friday, 12 September to Sunday, 14 September 2025, in the picturesque town of Ortenburg, Germany. Organized by the Schachclub Ortenburg 1894 e.V., this esteemed tournament continues to attract chess enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

♟️ Tournament Format
The competition will follow a 5-round Swiss system, with a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the remainder of the game, and a 30-second increment per move from the start.
Players will be divided into three rating groups:
- A-Tournament: Rating ≥ 2000
- B-Tournament: Rating between 1600 and 1999
- C-Tournament: Rating < 1600
💰 Prize Fund
A total prize fund of €3,600 will be distributed as follows:
- A-Tournament:
- 1st Place: €1,000
- 2nd Place: €500
- 3rd Place: €250
- B-Tournament:
- 1st Place: €400
- 2nd Place: €200
- 3rd Place: €100
- C-Tournament:
- 1st Place: €200
- 2nd Place: €100
- 3rd Place: €50
Organizers will award trophies to the top three players in each group and to the best junior player born in 2006 or later.

The club’s adult training sessions are held every Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the Kaminzimmer of the Hotel & Restaurant Zum Koch, located at Vorderhainberg 8, 94496 Ortenburg. Youth training takes place on Fridays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (except during school holidays) in the old town hall at the marketplace, signposted as the Red Cross practice room.
