📜 Development of the Königliche Trakehner Chess Project

The Königliche Trakehner chess project emerged in the Frankfurt area in 2020. Its unusual identity deliberately connects chess with the Trakehner horse and the knight chess piece. The earlier “Karbo” name combined references to Karben and Frankfurt-Bonames, two locations associated with the organization’s early activity. One of its first significant over-the-board events was the Adolf-Anderssen Open in Frankfurt-Bonames in 2021. The senior classical tournament attracted players including GM Paul Motwani and IM Klaus Klundt and commemorated Adolf Anderssen, one of the most important German chess masters of the 19th century. The organization later ran events such as the Trakehner Open and the FibC Rating Open series. These competitions emphasized long classical time controls and separate opportunities for players in different rating categories. More recently, the club’s public identity shifted to SVKT Bad Camberg 2025. Its current website presents the organization under that name, while Hessian chess records also used SVKT Bad Camberg for the 2025–2026 season.

SVKT Bad Camberg entered the 2025–2026 Bezirksliga within the Lahn chess district. Edgar Winand served as the official club contact and team captain. The squad included players such as Daniel Kupriyanov, Ray Amritesh, Marcel Wick, Mikhael Ovsepyan, Siegfried Brücken, Semso Pozegic, Rahman Delic, and Edgar Winand. Early in the season, the team recorded a 5–2 victory over SC Rochade Diez. However, SVKT Bad Camberg subsequently withdrew from the 2025–2026 league competition. Therefore, its current public chess activity is more strongly focused on tournament organization than on an active regional team campaign.

The FibC tournament program is closely connected with Edgar Winand and SVKT. It provides independently organized competitions using a variety of formats. The FibC Rating Open 2025 in Frankfurt divided players into separate Elo groups and used a demanding classical time control. SVKT Frankfurt-Karbo was listed as the host organization, while FibC served as the event organizer. During 2026, Winand has also been involved in the technical administration of the Fränkische Schachfestival-Woche in Bischofsgrün, including the Fränkisches Seniorenderby, Ochsenkopf Open, blitz, rapid, and alternative-format competitions. These activities demonstrate the organizer’s emphasis on providing players with multiple types of rated and structured tournament chess rather than relying on a single annual event.

🌟 Adolf-Anderssen-Cup 2026

The 1. Adolf-Anderssen-Cup 2026 is scheduled from November 2–10, 2026 at the Spessart Forum in Bad Soden-Salmünster, Germany. Players will contest nine Swiss-system rounds. The classical time control is 130 minutes with a 30-second increment per move, and the tournament is registered for international rating calculation. Edgar Winand serves as Tournament Director. IA Wolfgang Fiedler is Chief Arbiter, with Thomas Rondio serving as Deputy Chief Arbiter. The announced cash prizes total at least €3,490, including €1,000 for first place. Additional awards cover rating groups, juniors, and senior categories. The tournament continues the organizer’s long-standing connection with the memory of Adolf Anderssen. It also marks the expansion of SVKT/FibC tournament activity beyond the Frankfurt area into Bad Soden-Salmünster and the Spessart region.
