♟️ About the Organizer
Slovakia Chess Open Team is a Slovak chess-organizing project operated through Slovenská organizačná, o.z. The team regularly cooperates with ŠK Modra, the Slovak Chess Federation, municipalities, hotels, local chess clubs, and other regional partners. Its goal is to provide professionally managed over-the-board tournaments in several parts of Slovakia.
The organizers manage the full event process, including tournament regulations, player registration, entry-fee administration, venue coordination, technical preparation, arbiters, pairings, rating submissions, accommodation information, and communication with participants. The team organizes events under the Slovakia Chess Open brand rather than limiting its work to one city or playing venue. Current official tournament records identify Slovenská organizačná as the organizer of its major competitions.
🏆 Tournaments and Chess Events
The team organizes classical, rapid, and blitz competitions for junior players, amateurs, club competitors, titled players, and international participants. Its tournament program has included the Slovakia Chess Open Piešťany, exe: Slovakia Open Bratislava, LJ Slovakia Chess Open, Modranský pohár Ľudovíta Štúra, O Kremnický zlatý dukát, JAVES Cup, Dojčland Cup, and the tournament for the Mayor’s Cup of Gbely.
The flagship Piešťany festival features FIDE-rated classical chess and attracts players from several national federations. In 2024, the event welcomed around 200 competitors from 19 federations and received support through the FIDE Aid Package. The team has also helped deliver Slovak championship events, including national rapid competitions and major youth tournaments.
In 2026, the organizers continued their multi-event program with tournaments in Modra, Liptovský Ján, Piešťany, Kremnica, Gbely, and other Slovak locations. The events use clearly published schedules, rating requirements, prize structures, registration deadlines, cancellation conditions, and technical rules.
🌱 Chess Development and Tournament Support
Slovakia Chess Open Team creates regular opportunities for players who want to gain national and international rating experience. Several competitions use rating limits or separate groups so that developing players can compete against opponents of an appropriate level. Other events provide category prizes for women, juniors, youth players, seniors, and different rating groups.
The team also works with experienced arbiters and tournament officials. Its larger events use Swiss-Manager pairings and submit eligible results for Slovak and FIDE rating calculations. Moreover, the organizers provide direct registration assistance and publish tournament updates through their website and social-media accounts. This combination of major international festivals and smaller regional events helps connect local Slovak chess communities with the wider European tournament circuit.
