ŠK Radnički

♟️ About the Organizer

ŠK Radnički is a historic chess club based in Belgrade, Serbia. The club was founded in 1937 as part of the traditional Radnički Sports Society. Since then, it has played an important role in the development of chess in Belgrade and the former Yugoslavia.

The club achieved one of its greatest successes in 1988, when it became the team champion of Yugoslavia. Over the following decades, Radnički continued to train players, compete in team leagues, and organize tournaments for both experienced and developing competitors.

Today, the club operates from its premises in the Zvezdara district of Belgrade. The venue provides a dedicated environment for tournaments, training, club meetings, and regular competitive chess.

Dragan Kotevski serves as president of ŠK Radnički. In June 2026, the club announced a strategic partnership with ŠK Zmaj. Both organizations retain their legal identities, while combining players and resources for selected team competitions and youth-development activities.

🏆 Radnickichess Tournaments

ŠK Radnički is best known internationally for its recurring Radnickichess tournament series. The program includes closed Grandmaster and International Master tournaments, FIDE Master rating events, amateur opens, and other classical competitions.

The norm tournaments usually use nine-round round-robin formats. They bring together titled players and emerging talents from Serbia and many other national federations. As a result, participants can pursue international title norms and improve their FIDE ratings under suitable competitive conditions.

During 2025, the club organized 15 international Radnickichess tournaments. In April 2026, its IM and FM events attracted players from Serbia, Armenia, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Türkiye. One participant also achieved an International Master norm during the IM competition.

The club additionally organizes rating-limited amateur tournaments. These events offer nine classical rounds without double-round days. Therefore, players can compete in a demanding format while maintaining a manageable daily schedule.

The International Amateur Chess Tournament B.B. Radnički 2026 takes place from August 1 to 9, 2026. It is open mainly to players rated up to 2300 and includes general cash prizes and awards for several rating and age categories. CM Boban Božinović serves as tournament director and manages registrations.

🌱 Competitive and Youth Chess Development

ŠK Radnički supports players at several stages of development. Its tournament program gives ambitious juniors and club competitors access to experienced opposition, rated games, and international events without leaving Belgrade.

The organization also participates actively in Serbian team chess. Radnički won both the Belgrade Cup and the Belgrade Premier League in 2025. These results secured the club’s place in the Serbian First League for the 2026 competitive season.

The partnership with ŠK Zmaj also aims to strengthen youth instruction. By combining coaching experience, playing resources, and training groups, the clubs intend to create stronger opportunities for young chess players in Belgrade.

Through its historic achievements, team participation, and frequent international tournaments, ŠK Radnički remains an important part of Serbian chess. The club welcomes local and international players who seek serious classical competition, FIDE rating opportunities, and possible title norms.
