🎓 Chess Development

Shivani Public School has promoted organized chess for several years. In 2018, it inaugurated the Shivani Chess Academy, with Grandmaster Sriram Jha participating in the opening program and giving a simultaneous exhibition. The school uses chess as both a competitive sport and an educational activity. Its events include competitions for schoolchildren as well as open sections for adult and rated players.

The Shivani Cup has developed into a recurring tournament series in Lucknow. In 2026, the school organized the 46th Shivani Cup Special Open Chess Tournament together with the Lucknow District Chess Sports Association. The school also scheduled the 8th Shivani Chess Mania Championship, presented as the Lucknow District Inter-School Chess Championship and 47th Shivani Cup. The series provides opportunities for younger players while also attracting experienced competitors from the wider Lucknow chess community.

🌟 50th Shivani Chess Championship 2026

A major milestone in the school’s chess program is the 50th Shivani All India Below 1800 Mega Chess Championship, scheduled for December 19–20, 2026 at Shivani Public School in Lucknow. The competition is organized directly by Shivani Public School, with Sudhir Dubey as Tournament Director and FA Sankalp Arora as Chief Arbiter. It consists of nine rounds with a rapid time control of 25 minutes plus a 10-second increment per move and an announced prize fund of ₹1,111,111.

🏛️ Organization and Leadership

Sudhir Dubey is CEO of Shivani Group of Schools and the most appropriate primary Contact Person for the organizer’s chess activities. He is directly identified as Tournament Director for the school’s principal 2026 chess event. The school’s current leadership also includes Founder Chairperson Satyabhama Dubey, Director Markandey Dubey, and Director-Principal Punita Mishra.
