Luca Cicogna serves as president of ASD Scacchi Cormonese. The event uses a nine-round Swiss system and attracts competitors from Cormòns, Gorizia, other parts of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and neighboring regions. By organizing the tournament alongside one of the city’s best-known annual celebrations, the club connects competitive chess with the cultural life of Cormòns.

ASD Scacchi Cormonese also participates in the Italian Team Chess Championship and regional team competitions. These events give members regular opportunities to represent the club, play rated games, and face opponents from established chess organizations across northeastern Italy.

In addition, the club supports provincial and regional competitions organized with the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Chess Committee. Its tournament activity includes open competitions, youth events, school chess championships, and other initiatives that promote organized chess throughout the province of Gorizia.
