Scacchi Club Piacenza runs a broad calendar of standard, rapid, blitz, youth, team, and promotional competitions throughout the year. Its recurring program includes the Coppa Piacenza rapid series, provincial standard championships, youth qualifiers, evening blitz events, Chess960 competitions, and open tournaments held across the province. The club also organizes groups of the Italian Team Chess Championship and fields several teams in national and regional divisions. One of its largest annual projects is the Piacenza Chess Festival. The international standard tournament takes place at Palazzo Gotico and offers separate rating sections for players of different strengths. The festival has established itself as a regular autumn event and has attracted more than 100 participants. The club also organizes the Semilampo Internazionale “Città di Piacenza.” The competition is held in the monumental hall of Palazzo Gotico and combines a FIDE-rated Open with a promotional tournament. The third edition attracted 141 participants, confirming the event as a major rapid tournament within the regional chess program. The 4th Semilampo Open “Città di Piacenza” 2026 takes place on September 13. The program includes a nine-round FIDE Rapid-rated Open and a separate six-round promotional competition. Through this event and its year-round activities, A.S.D. Scacchi Club Piacenza continues to strengthen competitive and grassroots chess throughout the Piacenza area.
