♟️ About Šahovski klub Radnički Kovin
Šahovski klub Radnički Kovin (Chess Club Radnički Kovin) is a chess club and tournament organizer based in Kovin, Serbia. The club combines Serbian team competition with an increasingly active program of FIDE-rated international tournaments. Its recent events have attracted players from Serbia and numerous foreign federations, including Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, women’s titled players, juniors, and ambitious competitors seeking strong round-robin experience. Radnički Kovin is particularly active in organizing closed IM, FM, and CM round-robin tournaments. These events use carefully structured rating groups and provide players with internationally rated competition over nine rounds. The club also organizes open classical and rapid tournaments. In team chess, Radnički enjoyed a successful 2025 Banat South league campaign, finishing first with 25 match points. Saša Vojinović is the principal organizer and public contact for Šahovski klub Radnički Kovin. He serves as Tournament Director across the club’s extensive 2026 international program and manages participant communication and registrations. The club has already staged several tournament cycles during 2026 and is preparing further IM and FM round robins in September and November, together with a FIDE-rated rapid tournament.🏆 International Round-Robin Tournaments
A defining feature of Radnički Kovin’s current activity is its series of closed IM, FM, and CM tournaments. Each competition normally consists of ten players competing over nine rounds in a single round-robin format. The club opened its 2026 program with two tournament cycles from February 13–27 in Kovin. Separate IM, FM, and CM groups were organized, with rating targets established for each tournament category. The IM competitions used a classical time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move, while the FM and CM sections used 60 minutes plus 30 seconds. Participants in the February events represented several federations and included GMs, IMs, FMs, women’s titled players, and younger international competitors. Radnički continued the format with additional IM and FM tournaments from May 23 to June 5, 2026. These events have given the club a distinctive position within the Serbian tournament calendar, with multiple international round robins organized during a single year rather than only one annual festival.🌍 September and November 2026 Events
Radnički Kovin has another major tournament cycle scheduled for September 1–14, 2026. The program includes two IM round robins and accompanying FM competitions. The tournaments will take place at the Cultural Center in Mramorak, near Kovin. The IM groups use a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move and are FIDE rated. Current entry lists include players from Serbia, India, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, the United States, Armenia, and other federations. IA Dragan Babić serves as Chief Arbiter, while FA Maria Yacef is also part of the arbiting team. Saša Vojinović is Tournament Director. A further series is scheduled for November 5–19, 2026. It includes additional IM and FM round robins, while a separate FIDE-rated rapid tournament will be held on November 12. The rapid competition will use nine Swiss-system rounds at 10 minutes plus five seconds per move.♜ Open and Team Chess
Radnički Kovin also organizes larger Swiss-system tournaments. In November 2025, the club staged an international Open Tournament 1900+ at Hotel & Spa Grad in Kovin. The nine-round FIDE-rated competition was open primarily to players rated above 1900 and offered a €370,000 RSD prize fund. Its field included Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, and competitors from Serbia, India, Türkiye, Armenia, Bulgaria, South Africa, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, and other federations.
Alongside individual tournament organization, Radnički competes in Serbian team chess. In the 2025 Banat South League, the club finished first with 25 match points, recording eight wins and one draw from nine matches. That result earned Radnički Kovin promotion to the Second Serbian League, where the club currently competes, immediately below the Serbian Premier League.
