♟️ About the Organizer

Šachový oddíl Stochov, z.s. is an established chess club based in Stochov, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic. Organized chess in the town dates back to at least the mid-1950s. The present association was formally registered in 1999.

During its history, the club has brought together several generations of local players. Earlier teams competed in regional championships across Central Bohemia, while the club also maintained a strong group of adult and junior members.

Pavel Padevět serves as Chairman of Šachový oddíl Stochov. He also works as a tournament director, team captain, active player, and principal contact for the club’s public events.

Regular activities take place at Dům kultury Stochov on Mírové náměstí. The venue hosts club meetings, team matches, rapid and blitz tournaments, simultaneous exhibitions, and other chess activities.

🏆 Tournaments and Team Chess

Šachový oddíl Stochov organizes several local rapid and blitz competitions. Its tournament program has included the Easter Rapid, Christmas events, the O Dubového krále tournament, club championships, and other competitions for local and visiting players.

In 2026, the club introduced the O Putovní pohár Roberta Tůmy blitz tournament. The event commemorates Robert Tůma, a long-serving player and former club chairman who made an important contribution to chess in Stochov and the wider region.

The first edition consisted of 15 rounds of blitz chess. It also included separate awards for women, junior players, and the leading member of Šachový oddíl Stochov. Pavel Padevět served as Tournament Director, while Zdeněk Morávek served as Chief Arbiter.

The organization also competes in the Central Bohemian regional team system. Its players represent Stochov against clubs from Kladno, Rakovník, Slaný, Kralupy, Buštěhrad, and other nearby communities.

Therefore, members can combine individual tournament participation with regular team competition. The club also reports extensively on its players’ results at events throughout the Czech Republic.

🌱 Junior and Community Chess

The club welcomes both adults and young players. Beginners can learn the basic rules and gain practical experience, while established competitors can prepare for league matches and rated tournaments.

Junior members participate in regional youth championships and other age-group competitions. In addition, the club’s public tournaments often include dedicated junior prizes and accessible entry conditions.

Šachový oddíl Stochov also promotes chess through public simultaneous exhibitions. Recent guests have included GM Vlastimil Hort, IM Zuzana Hagarová, GM Sergei Movsesian, and WGM Olga Sikorová.

These events take place with support from the City of Stochov and, on several occasions, the Czech Chess Federation. They allow registered players, recreational participants, and members of the public to meet leading chess personalities.

Through team competition, local tournaments, junior participation, and public exhibitions, Šachový oddíl Stochov continues to maintain a long chess tradition within the town.
