Šachový klub SLAVIA Kroměříž is an active chess organization in Kroměříž, Czech Republic. The club operates as a section of TJ SLAVIA Kroměříž z. s. Šachový klub SLAVIA Kroměříž maintains a substantial team program. During the 2025/2026 season, the club fielded six adult teams. These teams covered the Extraliga, Second League, Zlín regional competitions, and Kroměříž district divisions. As a result, both elite players and local club members could represent the organization.

The first team represents Kroměříž in the highest Czech team division. Home Extraliga matches usually take place at Hotel U Zlatého kohouta. Meanwhile, the club’s other teams play many home fixtures at the TJ SLAVIA clubhouse on Kotojedská Street. The organization also provides live coverage for selected league matches.

The club also organizes the annual Open Air Ludslavice rapid tournament with the Municipality of Ludslavice. The partners launched the outdoor event in 2021. Since then, it has become a recognized fixture in the regional chess program. The tournament welcomes juniors, club players, experienced competitors, and titled participants.

Open Air Ludslavice combines nine rapid rounds with an informal outdoor setting. Moreover, the organizer submits the event for FIDE Rapid rating. The tournament includes cash prizes and lunch within the entry fee. It continues in different weather conditions, which gives the event a distinctive identity.

In addition, the club has organized events such as the Rynek Open and regional junior competitions. It also supports school championships in the Kroměříž district. Therefore, its tournament activity reaches both established players and new participants.

🎓 Youth Chess and Community Development

Youth development forms an important part of the club’s work. The organization welcomes children and teenagers from all age groups. During the active season, its trainers provide regular practice sessions at the main clubhouse. These sessions introduce chess fundamentals and support continued competitive progress.

The youth program helps players move from training into organized competition. Club members support regional youth Grand Prix events, school championships, and age-group tournaments. Consequently, young players gain experience against opponents from across the Zlín Region.

The club has also helped organize the Kroměříž District Schools Championship. These events bring together teams from primary and secondary schools. In addition, the club contributes equipment, organizational experience, arbiters, and tournament leadership. This cooperation strengthens links between schools and organized chess.

The main clubroom serves youth training and many lower-division team matches. It is located inside the TJ SLAVIA sports building in Kroměříž. However, the club uses additional rooms when more playing space is required. This flexibility supports training, league matches, and community events.
