🏆 Bad Griesbach Senior Chess Open

The Bad Griesbach Senior Chess Open has been organized since 1998 and has become an established annual tournament in Lower Bavaria. The competition combines classical tournament chess with the spa and wellness environment of Bad Griesbach. The 27th edition in 2025 attracted 72 players. Sergey Perman of Switzerland won the main tournament, continuing a winners’ list that has included Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, and strong senior competitors from several countries. The 28th edition will take place from November 29 to December 5, 2026 at the AktiVital Hotel. Participation is open to players aged over 50, with eligibility determined by the published birth-date requirement. Players will contest seven Swiss-system rounds with a classical time control of 150 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move. The event will be submitted for both FIDE Elo and German DWZ rating. Josef König is responsible for organization and registration. Simon Staudinger, FIDE Arbiter and tournament official within the Lower Bavarian chess structure, serves as Tournament Director and Chief Arbiter.
